S.U.B. Podcast #35 DJ SNAP (Hr)

You were a totally random guy that posted your song on some of the FB groups for dnb music, until I have clicked and listen to your tune. Sound was amazing, then I clicked another one… and long story short you made a mix for Skopje Urban Beats.

1. Please tell us about yourself, where are you from, and what is your Junglist story?

Hi hi, my name is Dorian I'm 25 years old and I am known under the suspect name SNAP.
I come from Rijeka, Croatia and my story starts around 6 years ago I think, when a friend of mine introduced me to dnb station - BassDrive.com. I really liked the sound of liquid drum & bass and started to listen more and more of it, and eventually became addicted to it haha

When talking about Croatia, these past few years you are blossoming with festivals, but somehow information about your drum and bass scene seems neglected. Except the existence of few crews, there are no info’s or some sort of a scene report.

2. Can you tell us something about the drum and bass scene in Croatia, and in your home town in Rijeka?

Yeah that is true, more and more festivals are coming around us, it's just crazy. Every summer we have a new festival haha. Well the scene is not big in Croatia, but there are a'few' peoeple around who keep it running and keep the spirit up. And in Rijeka the scene is really getting better! There are dnb parties almost every month and we host big International guests on a regural basis. Last weekend we had SpectraSoul for second time in Rijeka. The people here love dnb scene so it keeps getting better and bigger.

As I said earlier I loved the sound that you are producing.

3. What equipment do you use for your own production?

Equipment? I wish I had one haha, I have 50€ worth headhpones and Ableton. But I'm planning to "equip" myself with soundcard and midi keyboard in the near future. Oh, and monitors, can't forget monitors :)

4. Have you released anything by now / future releases?
(By reading some info about you online, in a few years you have released tracks, played with lots of DJ names and so on.)

Haha nah, not few years, I just got into production, like a year ago. But I have released couple of tracks so far yeah. Track EVE, was released at July for Dubtastic Records, Don't Let Me Go was released last month on fresh Label called Limitless Recordings definitly worth checking about whole album of varius artists such as Loz Contreras, Submatik, Keeno just to name a few. I got few upcoming releases at Offworld Recordings, Liquid Drops and Konfront Records. Its gonna be a busy winter thats for sure!

5. Are you satisfied with your current success?

This year has been by far the most successful one with many great releases. So I have to say I'm more than satisfied with how the things are going for me.

Although I wouldn't call this success, Producing is just a fun hobbie in which I put a lot of free time and effort, it's something I really enjoy working and I'm always aiming higher.

6. What are your favorite tunes so far?

Hmm, I think I will go for 'Ocean View' which you can hear as the first track in mix for your podcast, but I really like 'Don't Let Me Go'which has lovely vocals by Nina Davis.

Thank you for your podcast, and the interview.

Thank you Skopje Urban Beats crew for having me on your show! big upssss!
