S.U.B. Podcast #2 Interview with Blagorodna (Mk)

Here is the second podcast in Skopje Urban Beats series. In this podcast you are going to be introduced with the sound of a young female dj from Skopje. She is a host of a weekly show on Student FM "Час со Бас" her signature is liquid drum and bass, and from time to time she knows how rock the bars up. For now she's the only female drum and bass dj in Macedonia. Even if she is just a rookie, her passion, unique choice towards the drum and bass sound gives her a highlight spot in the Macedonian drum and bass circle. The mix is suitable for working atmosphere or just as a warm up in these cold winter days. Here is an interview done with Blagorododna:

What encouraged you to start playing drum and bass music, and where did it start?

  - Everything started when I had find out that Techna Kujna ( Liquid Kitchen Radio ) Darko Stepic and Hypertech ( Dimitar Rizov ) are organizing DJ Workshop, where everyone who is interested can go and learn more about dj skills and maybe become a DJ one day . :D  The main organizers like I already mentioned, were Darko Stepic and Dimitar Rizov, one of the first and the most present and active DJ's on our drum and bass scene. The DJ workshop was the place where I get my basic skills and I had a chance to make my wish come true-playing music on vinyls. During I was going on this classes I realized that I really want to start playing music, not just listening it. But I must admit that the biggest fault for this was coming from my friends, they encouraged me and supported me to start playing music. After the workshop I got a chance from Game Over ( Trajce Petrusevski -who is also one of the first dnb dj's on our scene ) for my first performance in one of our city night bars. This are my beginnings :).

You show host “Час со Бас” every Monday from 20:00 to 22:00 on Student FM. Tell us about your start, your thoughts on the show until now.

- Cas so Bas is radio show created by my friend Martin Jovcevski (Bass Infusion). At the beginnings of this show, he was the only host and his concept was promoting dubstep music, artist and labels. After a while he suggested me to join him and start promoting one hour drum and bass, and he continued with one hour of dubstep. Now i am hosting “Cas so Bas” and the concept is promoting only drum and bass artist, producers, labels etc. I have some new ideas for changes, but will see it for that.

 Your musical taste sound like?

- I love dnb in generally, but the most of all I adore liquid drum and bass, full with vocals, jazz moments, etc. I'm following artists and labels which are producing this kind of music and i’m promoting them in “Cas so Bas”. Liquid drum and bass is the sound that I listen, promote and play in my performances. I also love jump up and old school drum and bass, but the liquid is still on my first place in my playlist :D

Where was your own favorite dj-set played at?

-. My favorite dj-set was on the Run Festival in Shtip, last year, and I think that is because it was my first time to play music on a festival and the atmosphere is much more different than in some club in regular night. This was definitely my most exciting performance until now. :)

I'm listening drum and bass since 2007 and I must admit that is still the music that makes me happy. :D

S.U.B. Podcast #01 About

First podcast made for Skopje Urban Beats (S.U.B.). As stated in the info, reason for this podcast sessions is promotion of the sound of artist that will be in spotlight. Tracks on this podcast are old dated, anyway they needed to be heard just because of their awesomeness.

Spotlight on this podcast goes to Om Unit - Aeolian EP, specially for the track Dark Sunrise with Tamara Blessa. Here is her quote about this track "I'm tired of living in a world that refuses to see the truth,we have no idea what impact we really have. Our ignorance allows so much suffering to take place around the world. And the worst is,we all believe we are free, when really,we know nothing about survival if the banks deleted the digits on the ATM's". About the Om Unit sound - cant explain it, this ep is banging with experimental sound and beats. Submerse was also included with a glitch sound from Tears EP.

Three artist from Russia - Subwave from Moscow, with the track "4th" from his album titled as Subwave. Which was released 02.01.2012 and was the first album to make me jaw drop. But that was expected since he is one of my favorite artist for couple of years. His sound is unique, with a drop of acid on the side :D mad stuff all over the album. Next up is Nuage - comes fomr St.Petersburg and experiments with the electronic sounds, as you can hear in his tunes "have no words" taken from the Ascension EP for silk recordings. Unquote and his angelic chords from the  track "hide your tears because we are in heaven", found on his album "Reverberation Box" LP on Med School Music. I have discovered this track in a period of grief, wanted to include it into another mix, but this is how i used it and maybe this way is better, it coincided with the tracks that were used for this ice breaking podcast.

Rest of the tracks are from Dj Fresh album Nextlevelism - fire over water where his vocal guest is actress / singer Juliette Lewis. For his album i would said that am a bit disappointed since i follow his work since his beginnings in Bad Company. Maybe he does experiment creating hybrid sound from various genres, and i congratulate him on the deal with the companies that he signed on  for the next couple of albums. But as his fan im saying it again, disappointed, hope he finds hes way back someday. Anyway let me get back on the rest of the artist Bassnectar, Major Lazer, Uk hip-hop/grime artist Foreign beggars which exploded cause of their collaboration with one of the hippest neuro dj's Noisia, plus crossing trough different styles made them one of the famous Uk hip-hop/grime product. Love the re-range of massive attack "ringson" made by bassnectar. As for Skrilex the verse is only enough, love it. Hope you like the first podcast and remember "Bass makes that bitch cum!"
